Welcome to our weekly podcast “Roots to Grooves”.
Each episode explores the music, life and careers of musical artists from their earliest beginnings through to their most recent releases.
On this episode Jay and Jesse discuss the career and creative approaches of American drummer and composer “Mark Guliana”.
Mark Guliana is a prolific session drummer and composer who might best be known for his work on David Bowie’s last ever album “Blackstar”.
Born in New Jersey, Mark started his musical journey as a teenager taking drum lessons where he was encouraged to explore multiple genres, with a focus on Jazz.
Initially basing himself in New York, Mark has gone on to play in multiple Jazz ensembles across the city, and composed his own original albums which veer into a more electronic/dub mindset.
Join us as we discuss his career to date, his inspirations and creative approaches.
